Job Description

We are seeking Assistant Field Directors to support our various Operations teams in Grande Prairie, Fort McMurray, Edmonton and Red Deer.  

As Assistant Field Director, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Provide support and assistance to Field Directors, Regional Director and CAREERS team members.
  • Act as an ambassador for CAREERS to positively represent the organization, its mission, values and guiding principles in urban, rural and Aboriginal communities.
  • Research employers and other organizations for potential leads.
  • Connect with employers in order to expand, retain, and recognize employers.
  • Survey employers regarding their participation in the program.
  • Visit students at their internships.
  • Review, revise and update program materials.
  • Assist with office duties as necessary including providing reception, answering phones, data entry, photocopying, scanning documents, etc.
  • Update database, compile data and produce reports.
  • Provide regular reporting related to achievement of goals, opportunities and issues.
  • Assist with promotional events, career camps and career exposure events.


As Assistant Field Director, you will have the following attributes:

  • Must be currently enrolled in and returning in the fall to a Business Administration, Education, Marketing, Communications or Office Administration program in a post-secondary institution.
  • Knowledge of apprenticeship and trades careers an asset.
  • Experience working with youth and/or Aboriginal communities is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to take initiative, follow through on actions, and work independently is required.
  • Must have the ability to manage time and organize numerous projects/activities and build relationships with youth and employers.
  • Must have access to a computer and Internet connection and be comfortable with Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, Power Point, databases and other technologies
  • Travel in surrounding area is expected.  A valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle are required.
  • Candidates must demonstrate an incident-free Criminal Record Check and Child Welfare Check.
