Interns in our EH&S group will have a role in helping to ensure that we meet these critical commitments, while learning at the same time. To ensure interns are given relevant, value-add and meaningful assignments we do not create specific work assignments until April but you will be working on things such as emissions control, field safety education/enhancement, field inspections of equipment and incident investigations. Some examples of recent projects include:


  • Conducting a pilot study to evaluate the emissions from diesel engines located on drilling rigs, using different types of easel fuels ranging from conventional diesel fuel to bio-diesel fuel. The pilot study provided a tremendous amount of information to the company regarding the quantity of emissions generated from each type of fuel, what types of fuel should be used on certain types of projects and the economic impact of changing from one grade of fuel to another
  • Conducting drilling rig inspections and evaluating trends. Incidents from these rigs were evaluated to see if inspections and incidents had a direct correlation to each other. These were utilized to rank the rigs and support which rigs should be released first based on inspection/incident criteria. A revised drilling rig inspection for was developed and communication tools were enhanced as a result of this study.




  • must be pursuing a Bachelors in Environmental Engineering or Environmental Science
  • must be legally eligible to work in Canada
  • must be enrolled as a full time student through December 2017
  • 3.0 or higher GPA
  • available May 1 – August 17 2017
  • prior knowledge/experience with drilling in the western Canadian sedimentary basin an asset
